- How to credit the Producer(s)?
In all projects where any part of a Basement City beat is used, give credit in one of the following formats:
-“Produced by [Producer Name] for Basement City”
-“Beat by [Producer Name] for Basement City”
-“Original Music by [Producer Name] for Basement City”
-"Production from [Producer Name] for Basement City"
- Which format(s) are instrumental beat files sent?
.mp3, 320kbps and/or .wav 24 bit, 44.1kHz
- What are the differences between the .mp3, .wav, and Tracked-Out versions?
.mp3 file - Streaming quality (128 kbps)
.wav file - CD quality (16 bit, 44.1 kHz)
Tracked-Out - Studio quality (24 bit, 44.1 kHz)
- Will the leased beat(s) have a tag?
All audio watermarks will be removed from leased beats.
The Basic Lease gives you unlimited digital distribution, optionally, unlimited physical distribution with Premium Lease, so we ask you leave (1) signature 'Basement City' tag left in the track(s) onset for authentication.
However, leasee is able to edit this out (details in F.A.Q.).
Tracked-out license purchases have the option to remove the signature tag.
- Will I own the beat once I purchase it from your store?
No. All purchases made from the Beats Store are non-exclusive. The producer still owns rights, and we will still be able to license beat(s) to other artists.
- Can a beat be changed after it's been leased or purchased?
Yes. You can chop, loop, speed up, slow down, add sounds, or change up the beat all you want; as long as you still give full production credit to the original Basement City producer.
- What if two or more people buy the same beat?
If two or more persons lease the same beat, they can each copyright their own song they make with that beat. They maintain rights to sell, distribute, perform, and broadcast that song. Royalties are owned by the individual of the song.
When a beat is leased from Basement City, the copyright for that beat alone belongs to the producer. The copyright for the song made with that beat and lyrics combined with that beat, belong to the leasee. With the permission granted by the Basement City license agreement; you are allowed to sell, distribute, perform, and broadcast that song while keeping all the royalties.
- Can I lease a beat exclusively?
The only beats that we offer exclusively (that are only sold to one person) are Custom Exclusive Beats.
- Do these beats use or contain samples?
Some beats may contain samples. These are usually royalty free sounds; however, it would behoove the purchaser or leasee to do a secondary review on any noted samples. A check and "list of", if necessary, can be provided upon request. Producers are not responsible for ensuring clearance.
Custom beats are made without samples and are royalty free, unless a specific sample is requested.
Feel free to contact us for inquiries.
- Which license is for you?
